Child Safety in the Mazda6 Gets Top Rating

Child safety in the Mazda6 got a top IIHS safety rating in 2019

If you are the parent of any young children, you know how important properly installed child safety seats are in the car. However, these seats can often be difficult to install in your car, especially if the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) anchors are buried deep in the seat folds.

That is why the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is making it easier for parents by rating new vehicles for how easy it is to use their LATCH systems. Recently, child safety in the Mazda6 earn top marks from the IIHS with a “Good+” rating.

In order to receive this rating, a vehicle has to have all of the following:

  • Lower anchors that are no more than ¾ of an inch deep within the seat
  • Lower anchors that are easy to get around
  • Require less than 40 pounds of force to attach a child seat connector
  • Tether anchors in the middle or higher of the seatback
  • No additional hardware that could be confused for the tether anchor

In addition to the good LATCH rating, the Mazda6 also earned a 2019 IIHS Top Safety Pick rating for its good crash test results, acceptable headlights, and superior front crash prevention technology.

The safe, stylish, and luxurious 2019 Mazda6 is available to test-drive at Gossett Mazda.
