At one of the most grueling and infamous races across the globe, Mazda did not disappoint. The automaker’s racing team earned a 1-2 finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Harry Tincknell secured first place behind the wheel of the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P, while the No. 77 Mazda roared into second place approximately 10 seconds later.
No. 55 Mazda Finishes First
The first-place finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona marked the fourth win for the Multimatic team of Tincknell and copilot Jonathan Bomarito in the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P prototype.
“What an amazing day! Another 1-2 finish at Daytona for Mazda Motorsports feels fantastic. Everyone on the team did an amazing job and we pushed hard through the changing weather conditions to get our first win of the season,” said Bomarito.
No. 77 Mazda Takes Second
Tristan Nunez and Oliver Jarvis teamed up to earn the second place finish in the No. 77 Mazda, and Nunez could not contain his excitement over how his team performed.
“There really couldn’t be any better way to start the season back up after being out of the car for half the year. With the limited preparation due to COVID restrictions, I was so impressed with the team’s execution of the whole weekend,” said Nunez.
